Upcoming Services, Events & Opportunities to Serve

Out of care for one another during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we are continuing to keep "social distancing." As of Sunday, September 13th, we have reopened our public (in-person) 9:30 A.M. Worship Service.  We ask that all people worshipping in-person would continue to follow the safety protocols which were mentioned in the Reopening Letter:  Reminder that everyone should have signed in on the Tracing Log.  We are required to maintain a list of everyone entering our church. Please wear your mask throughout the Worship Service and while you are inside the church.  At the conclusion of the Prayers of the People, please pray the Lord's Prayer in the silence of your hearts and minds.  At the end of the Service, please wait for the ushers to dismiss your pew row.  There will be no coffee hour or other indoor socializing, but please feel free to socialize outdoors as the weather permits.  Prayer requests must be emailed to Pastor Gre by 8:00 A.M. on Sunday morning.  Thank you for helping to make our in-person Worship Service a healthy and positive experience.

We will continue to provide a 9:30 A.M. live-streamed Worship Service on our church’s Facebook page. Here’s the link: https://www.facebook.com/First-Congregational-United-Church-of-Christ-Fairport-NY-174043249305098.  Also, an audio Worship Service will be recorded and downloaded to our church’s website (www.fairportucc.org) each Sunday by 11:15 A.M. All of our Church Boards, Committees, and Church Council will conduct meetings via Zoom or email.

Pastor Greg Rupright encourages anyone who has a pastoral concern or prayer request to contact him at any time: revgregrup.ucc@gmail.com; 585-966-9416 (cell); 585-223-0224 (church).

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24th - check the Pastor's Blog Bible Study on our church's website: www.fairportucc.org.  Just click Pastor's Blog.  This week's Pastor's Blog Bible Study is on Exodus 17:1-7.  Reply to the blog or email Pastor Greg any of your reflections on this passage.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26th - FAIRPORT BAPTIST HOMES 8TH ANNUAL STEP UP FOR SENIORS WALK.  After careful consideration of the current situation related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided to turn our annual Step Up for Seniors Walk, which was scheduled for this Saturday, September 26, into a virtual event.  SO—what does this mean?

  • We are still encouraging folks to register on line, get their FBH purple T-shirt, and walk a mile or two on their own, whenever and wherever it can happen, sometime between now and the end of this month. Since you have already registered, we will let you know when the t-shirts have arrived so you may stop by and pick them up.
  • All raffle prizes will be on display in the lobby this week.  We’ll send out a flyer with details and photos of the various prizes soon, so STAY TUNED!  You can buy tickets online/remotely; just let us know which prizes you’d like to try for.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27th at 9:30 AM PUBLIC WORSHIP SERVICE (www.fairportucc.org - click the sermons tab) - SEVENTEENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST.  The Sunday Message, "The Question" will focus on Exodus 17:1-7.  Behind all the stories of scripture, in the minds of many who gather in church or from the safety of their homes for Sunday worship, and underneath so much of human history and thought is an implied question: Is God with us or not?  A reigning from afar God is hardly God for us.  As we make our journeys through life, each of us need shomehow to come up with an answer to the basic question, Is God for us or not?  This question, which is explicitly raised in Exodus 17, receives an answer in the stories of Moses and the Israelites wandering through the wilderness.  As we continue to wander through the seeminly endless maze of the COVID-19 pandemic and listen to cries for social justice, perhaps we are asking the same question.  Jennifer Freeberg. our guest violinist, will provide Special Music:  "The Swan" by Saint-Saens; arr. Forest R. Etling & "Allemanda" from Partita No. 2 in d minor by J.S. Bach.  COME JOIN US IN PERSON OR VIA OUR WEBSITE AUDIO SERVICE OR OUR FACEBOOK PAGE LIVE-STREAM WORSHIP SERVICE (https://www.facebook.com/First-Congregational-United-Church-of-Christ-Fairport-NY-174043249305098).  ALL ARE WELCOME!

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27TH at 10:30 AM - ANNUAL PROGRAM MEETING IN THE SANCTUARY.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4TH AT 3:00 PM - BLESSING OF ANIMALS SERVICE IN OUR CHURCH PARKING LOT.  We invite you to bring your pets to share in this special Blessing of Animals.  We ask that all animals are appropriately leashed or contained.  THANK YOU.

NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE, OR WHERE YOU ARE ON LIFE'S JOURNEY, YOU ARE WELCOME IN THIS UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST.  OUR GOD IS STILL SPEAKING! GOD LOVES YOU, AND SO DO WE!
